In an article published in the NEW PEOPLE, Kenya publication, July-August 2017, RENATE member Sr. Mabel Mariotti reflects upon the establishment of the Santa Marta group at the Vatican and the legislative instruments devised by both the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, in attempts to combat trafficking, protect the victims, prosecute the perpetrators and prevent the crime of human trafficking.
Sr. Mabel suggests such legislation is too removed from the reality or maybe too far away from a more objective examination of the problem, i.e. from an unbiased observation and analysis of the root causes of human trafficking.
