Lending your support to campaigns against Human Trafficking and Exploitation.

There are a variety of ways in which we each work to raise awareness about Human Trafficking and bring about its demise. One of the simplest ways to do this is to add our voice to international campaigns such as Thunderclaps, Petitions and other similar forms of campaigns open to support from people worldwide.
Freedom United have a series of continuing campaigns which you might like to add your support to. For the month of March, they are running the Celebrate Women’s History month, highlighting particular women’s stories.  Many of these stories relate to women trafficked from Europe.

The latest news from Talitha KUM UISG:

Synod on Youth – #Synod2018
In March 19th – 23th, 2018 young people will gather in Rome to prepare the XV ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS: Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment. Two young people will represent the work of anti-trafficking:
Ndaba Tinyiko Joan, from the outskirts of Pretoria, South Africa. Tinyiko is the coordinator of Without Chains, a group of young people, part of CTIP. The youth are very active to reis awareness and to organize prevention activities of trafficking among young people in South Africa. Tinyiko will represent Talitha Kum.Blessing Okeinedion, author of the book “The Courage of Freedom”. Blessing is a surivors of trafficking, she is a cultural mediator and collaborates with the network of Italian religious against trafficking. It is important that the voice of young people from the peripheries will reach the synod. Their voice must be represented. For this reason, Talitha Kum asks to all the networks to take action and to participate.
Let us invite young survivors and young people who work with us to get connected and to follow the pre-synod on the website and through the social networks. Pope Francis in his speech to messages to the mayors of large cities meeting in the Vatican, said that “in order to be truly effective, the common commitment to raising ecological awareness and to combat modern forms of slavery — trafficking of human beings and of organs, prostitution, illegal labour — must start at the peripheries”.
