Whether you set aside a few minutes each day, week, or month, your prayers are a powerful force for change. You can pray alone, with your community, in your parish, or with those around you. By lifting our hearts in unity, we call upon God’s grace to heal, protect, and renew.
Join us in this sacred mission. Let us pray that God, the only One who can truly transform hearts, will bring an end to exploitation and suffering.

Pope Francis on Human Trafficking

The 11th International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking took place on February 8, 2025. This day is observed annually on February 8, the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita, the patron saint of human trafficking survivors.
In his message for the 11th International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of hope and collective action in eradicating modern slavery. He stated, “With the help of God, we can avoid becoming accustomed to injustice and ward off the temptation to think that certain phenomena cannot be eradicated.” He encouraged targeted initiatives to weaken and oppose the economic and criminal mechanisms that profit from trafficking and exploitation.
The Pope also highlighted the significance of prayer and unity, urging everyone to trust in the intercession of St. Josephine Bakhita. He said, “Together—trusting in the intercession of St. Bakhita—we can make a great effort and create the conditions for trafficking and exploitation to be banned and for respect for fundamental human rights to prevail, in fraternal recognition of common humanity.”
He concluded with a blessing and a request for mutual prayer: “Go forth with hope in the Lord, who walks with you! I bless you from my heart. I pray for you, and you pray for me.”
These messages underscore Pope Francis’s call for faith-driven efforts and communal solidarity in the fight against human trafficking.

Prayer for an End to Human Trafficking
Oh God, we didn’t see them. But you did, the hundreds and thousands of human beings Trafficked each year to join the millions who are trapped in modern-day slavery. Under terrible conditions, they work in factories, plough fields, harvest crops, work quarries, fill brothels, clean homes, and haul water.
Many are children with tiny fingers for weaving rugs and small shoulders for bearing rifles. Their labor is forced, their bodies beaten, their faces hidden from those who don’t really want to see them.
But you see them all, God of the poor. You hear their cry and you answer by opening our eyes, and breaking our hearts and loosening our tongues to insist:
No more. No more.
Amen
