RENATE’s Direct Action Against Human Trafficking
At RENATE, we are driven by the need for immediate and direct action in the fight against human trafficking. Through the collaboration of our member organizations, we focus on rescuing, rehabilitating, and reintegrating victims into society. This approach ensures that we not only address the immediate needs of survivors but also work toward long-term solutions that break the cycle of exploitation.

Our member organizations lead and support rescue operations to remove victims from exploitative situations, often working alongside local law enforcement. These operations are critical in the fight against human trafficking, which affects millions globally, spanning forced labor, sexual exploitation, and even organ trafficking. Trafficking occurs worldwide and often involves victims from multiple countries, making coordinated, cross-border efforts essential. Rescue operations are also high-stakes, as victims of trafficking often face severe risks, especially when they are detained by authorities or traffickers. It’s vital that after rescue, survivors are immediately provided with support to prevent re-victimization and to ensure they do not return to their previous exploitative circumstances.
RENATE’s shelters play a pivotal role in providing safe spaces for trafficking survivors. These shelters are designed to meet the immediate needs of survivors, offering protection, care, and a pathway to recovery. The shelters are divided into different levels of intervention, such as crisis shelters for immediate, short-term safe accommodations, rehabilitation programs for physical and psychological recovery, and long-term accommodation for survivors needing extended care while rebuilding their lives. The primary goal of RENATE’s shelters is to restore dignity, offer counseling, and empower survivors to regain their independence in a secure and supportive environment.
Our rehabilitation efforts focus on addressing both the mental and physical trauma survivors endure. We provide tailored programs to support each individual’s healing journey and reintegration into society. Psychosocial support, including counseling and therapy, helps survivors process trauma and rebuild their self-esteem, while job training and educational opportunities provide the skills and qualifications needed to secure meaningful employment. Legal assistance is also an essential component of our rehabilitation programs, offering support with matters such as obtaining new IDs, restraining orders, and navigating the judicial system. These services ensure that survivors have the tools and resources they need to reclaim their lives and work toward a sustainable future.
Reintegration is the ultimate goal of RENATE’s support services. We work with survivors to develop individualized plans that help them achieve independence and self-sufficiency, which can take place both in the country of rescue and in the survivor’s home country. Social reintegration focuses on developing a support network to restore trust and build functional relationships with the surrounding community. Employment support is provided to help survivors find jobs that match their skills and aspirations, while housing and financial independence are emphasized to ensure stability in their lives. Reintegration is a carefully monitored and adjusted process, with ongoing support to guarantee the long-term success of each individual’s transition into an independent and free life.
Our work doesn’t stop after reintegration. RENATE remains committed to supporting survivors as they move forward, ensuring they have the resources, skills, and support needed to live independently and free from exploitation. Through our comprehensive approach of rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration, we provide a sustainable path forward for trafficking survivors, empowering them to reclaim their lives and futures. This long-term, holistic approach helps break the cycle of human trafficking, offering survivors a chance for a better, self-sustained life.
