Advocacy and Campaigns

At RENATE, advocacy is a cornerstone of our work in the fight against human trafficking. Our extensive network across Europe gives us the platform and influence to shape policy and bring about systemic change on a continental scale. By participating in key international forums and campaigns, we aim to raise awareness, influence legislation, and push for the protection of human rights for the most vulnerable.
RENATE network members & partners are actively involved in several high-level advocacy initiatives such as the EU Civil Society Platform against Trafficking in Human Beings, which works to shape policies and initiatives to prevent trafficking and provide support to victims across Europe.
Since 2018, RENATE has also been a member of the Conference of INGOs, one of the four pillars of the Council of Europe, based in Strasbourg. This platform focuses on promoting Human Rights, Democracy, and the Rule of Law, giving us a crucial voice in shaping European policies regarding human trafficking and exploitation.

Advocacy work
RENATE members are also deeply committed to advocacy work within their own countries. They work tirelessly on a range of issues, including:
- Defending the human rights of trafficking victims
- Shaping and improving National Referral Mechanisms (NRMs)
- Promoting gender awareness and gender equality
- Advocating for systemic changes, including anti-corruption and ethical reforms
- Supporting national adaptations of the Nordic Model for addressing prostitution
- Engaging with the International Coalition of Shelters
- Being part of organizations with special consultative status with ECOSOC, the UN, and other influential bodies
RENATE Films
In addition to policy work, RENATE and its members use film as a powerful tool for advocacy. Through compelling documentaries, we aim to give a voice to the voiceless and shed light on the challenges faced by trafficking victims.
In 2025, RENATE launched a series of three short films, from Ireland, Albania and Ukraine. Each of these films highlight not only the importance of our collective efforts, but also document the impact of our network’s work in raising awareness, building solidarity, and driving change. By participating in global campaigns, advocating for policy changes, and creating multimedia resources, RENATE continues to amplify the voices of those affected by human trafficking and exploitation, ensuring their rights are defended at every level.
