Dear RENATE Members,
Trafficking in persons is both a crime against humanity and a key challenge and risk in a wide range of sectors integrated into global markets, such as agriculture, information and communication technology,
garments and textiles.
Trafficking in persons for labour exploitation is a grave violation of human rights and considerable work has been done internationally to legislate for the prevention of human trafficking & labour exploitation through requiring organisations to treat human trafficking as a priority issue when considering how their organisation functions. Faith based organisations, NGOs and voluntary sector organisations are not exempt!
While human trafficking and forced labour may affect every sector and every organisation, it is often challenging for organisations to comprehend the extent of their exposure to risk. For example, risks practices in recruitment are often overlooked, including practices such as the payment of fees by jobseekers, retention of passports or the lack of transparency in the terms of the contract, deceiving workers into exploitative working conditions.
Having regard for the above, the RENATE Network Core Group has arranged online training for RENATE Network members on the theme ‘’ Human Trafficking and Supply Chains, ’’ where we will work with experts who will lead us in understanding the Supply Chain concept and help us progress towards best practices which reduce exposure and also develop specific policies or programmes to prevent unwittingly contributing to Human Trafficking and Supply Chains.
The dates for the training are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7, 8 & 9 November 2023, from 09:30-12:30 (CET). These times are equivalent to 08:30 -11:30 (BST-UK).
The language medium for the training is English, the preferred main language of the network.
Therefore, in order to participate fully, it is important that you have a competence in speaking, reading and discussing in English.
