Today, 18th October, marks EU Anti-Trafficking Day. At RENATE, Religious in Europe Networking Against Trafficking and Exploitation, it is a day to recognise the work our members carry every day of the year.
RENATE is an active and strong network. Our members bring expertise in law and legal research, lead advocacy and awareness campaigns, run shelters and safe houses, and represent the network at the Council of Europe and the Conference of INGOs. All of this is held together by a deep commitment to prayer and spiritual accompaniment. Together, we continue the fight against human trafficking and exploitation.
The scale of suffering caused by trafficking, across Europe and the wider world, is immense. Much of it happens out of sight, in ordinary places. We ask everyone to become more conscious and more mindful: to notice, to question, and to consider where exploitation might be present in their own communities.
Pray with us
In the lead-up to today, RENATE held a prayer service, and each day since 11 October we have shared a new prayer, action and activity to sit with. The full prayer booklet is available here.
